Soupe à L'Oignon Gratinée
During my trip to Paris, I mentioned having the best meal I've ever had - French Onion Soup. It was brunch in Montmarte at C'est Vrai Paris on a cold morning. This is the second time I've made it and though it's not as perfect as the real thing, it's quite spot on. I won't put the whole recipe up, but here are the ingredients I used. A lot of it was estimated by taste.
Ingredients:
4 large onions (preferably Spanish onions)
Olive Oil
knob of butter
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon crushed black pepper
1 bay leaf
1 sprig of thyme
2 cloves of minced garlic
275ml dry white wine (I used Sicilano)
2 litres of beef stock
slices of toasted French baguette (I used Italian toasting bread)
grated Swiss Gruyere

Photo Art Fair
[ Photo by William Klein ]
With the progressive interest in photography recently, a friend has introduced this new photo art fair that's exhibiting in London next year. It will span for about five days, with two thousand over photographs from photographers worldwide, which should be interesting to go see. It'll be starting on my birthday as well - 2-6 May. More info about it can be read here.

Home Décor
I have just been going through this home-décor craze, attempting to redecorate my room to become a more "organic" zen room. I've cleared my shelf neatly with magazines, art and fashion books - added plant-life (hyacinths and succulents) - glass jars and porcelain buckets - polaroids and posters flock the wall - and the room now smells of gardenia-scented oils. There's still a long way to decorate... I need to get Moroccan carpets and raw wooden pieces !

Cuppa
[ Pumpkin Spice Latte - Recipe from Dashing Dish ]
Nothing like a cuppa mild roast hazelnut coffee, two soft-boiled eggs and fresh mango to start the day.
Last night was spent through hard labour hand-embroidering a baroque pattern on duchess satin. Also nearly finished my ISHE essay on brand image and interpretations - enjoying it way more than I should be. Having nearly completed the first term at LCF, slaved through days of portfolio work, pattern drafting and sampling, and watching dozens of fashion movies in French - I've come to realise that no matter how hard or stressful the workload is, I just love that I'm on my way to living my dream, that lifestyle. I just really love what I do (despite the occasional swear on the technical side), it's developing me for the industry bigger than we all imagine. I feel a bit like little Alice in Lewis Carol's big big Wonderland.
How wonderful.

Briefs and ideas
Lately I have been busy with researching for my White Shirt Project, exploring the elements of my art movement, Baroque, and of the worker, the matador. My recent trip to Stuttgart here, has proven to be beneficial for my primary source of research. Ludwigsburg Palace was architecturally built in the Baroque style with astounding murals and sculptures, furniture and paintings. There was a Mode Museum as well, which featured the costumes during that era.
On top of that, we've been given the brief of writing an essay on either an image / object analysis. I think I will focus on an object, of course it has to be related to an object of fashion in specific. I am still pondering on what to write about; the oversized coat - it's iconology and concept of androgyny, or this unique sari top I bought from a vintage shop in Tokyo, branded Paris Sport Club. I liked the idea that it originated from Paris, somehow reached Tokyo, and now brought back with me to London. I am still contemplating (though I reckon it will end up a dead end - I think the brand doesn't even exist anymore..)

Architecture meets Fashion
Fashion and architecture entwined into one fashion show. They're basically the same thing, only ones out of fabric, and one out of bricks.
My dear friend and Westminster architecture student, Rob, kindly invited me to this student event that he was hosting,
where all the architecture departments from the Marylebone campus gathered to create these structured ensembles.
Playing with various shapes and recycled materials, they created these pieces from scratch. You've got to give them kudos for that.
My personal favourite would be the Gaga-like reflective pieces of broken CDs, probably because it was the most dangerous.
